JIMS conducted NATIONAL CONFERENCE on Emerging Trends in International Law: Issues & Challenges

The National Conference was organized and hosted by JEMTEC, School of Law on April 21st, 2018 on Emerging Trends in International Law: Issues and Challenges, aimed at building a bridge to contribute to development of nations in the international regime in the auspicious presence of delegates and speakers coming from all over the country.

The conference was inaugurated in the presence of the Chief Guest Mr. Vikramjit Banerjee, Additional Solicitor General of India, and the Guest of Honor Mr Narinder Singh, Former Secretary General of the Indian Society of International Law, New Delhi, Dr. Amit Gupta, Chairman JIMS Group & Patron-in-Chief of the conference, Dr. R.K. Raghuwanshi, Programme Director and Prof (Dr.) K. K. Geetha (Convener) followed by lighting of lamp. A warm welcome speech was given by Dr. Amit Gupta (Chairman) and Dr. R.K. Raghuwanshi (Director).

The conference was well attended by eminent academicians, faculty members and students from reputed institutions of law such as Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur; CNLU, Patna; JNU, Delhi; Jamia Milia Islamia; Faculty of Law, Delhi University; Aligarh Muslim University; Nirma University, Ahmedabad; VIT, Chennai; UPES, Dehradun; Himcapes School of Legal Studies, HP; Geeta Institute of Law, Panipat; Amity Law School, Delhi; Sharda University; Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida; Galgotias University, Greater Noida; and many more, from different parts of the country and representatives of different legal departments and legal professionals.

Six sessions on Challenges before Public International Law, International Law in Cyber Space, International Environmental Law, International Refugee Law, International Maritime Law were held and number of papers were presented. These sessions were chaired by the persons of repute in the area of International Law like Dr Stellina Jolly, Assistant Professor, South Asian University, New Delhi, Mr Rodney D. Ryder Senior Partner, Scriboard Research and Development Center, Advocates and Legal Consultants, Mr Vinai Kumar Singh, Deputy Director, ISIL, New Delhi, Ms Meena Panicker, Assistant professor, Delhi University, Dr. Anwar Sadat, Assistant Professor, ISIL, New Delhi and Faculty members of JEMTEC School of Law namely Mr Ashutosh Kumar, Mr Siddharth Singh, Mr Ashish Saraswat and Mr Arpit Sharma.

The valedictory ceremony was attended by Dr. Manoj Kumar Sinha, Director, Indian Law Institute, New Delhi and Mr Luther Rangreji, Director, Treaty Division, Ministry of External Affairs, as Chief Guest and Guest of Honor, respectively.

Out of approximately 50 participants’ the best paper was awarded to Dr. Murshed Mussarraf, Department of Pol. Science, BFIT, Group of Institute, Dehradun.

Dr. Deepti Sinha, Associate Professor, JEMTEC School of Law commented – “We are incredibly proud to organize this conference. It is a known fact that none of the nations can survive in seclusion and there is an obligation to establish a well knitted inter-state relationship. There is a constant strife between new international economic order and traditional interpretation of international principles.”

The main aim of the National Conference is to deliberate on themes: Challenges before Public International Law, International Law in Cyber Space, International Investment and Trade Law, International Environmental Law Issues and Challenges, International Refugee Law, International Maritime Law.
